Tata Consumer Products, owners of Tetley branded tea, announced it has sold its stake in two US-based joint tea ventures – parting ways with Empirical Group, a major foodservice supplier, and the Harris Tea Company’s Southern Tea. Tetley is one of North America’s highest grossing tea brands. Tata’s CEO said the company is consolidating to sharpen its focus in the US coffee and tea market.

In a release announcing the acquisition, Harris writes that the new company will be called Harris Tea Food Service, “offering foodservice customers innovative products, consistent quality, and service.”

In addition to Tetley? and Good Earth?, Harris Tea Foodservice will now offer Southern Breeze?, Ready Sweet?, Newman’s Own Organics?, Red Rose?, Salada?, Tea India?, Chai Moments?, Wonder Drink Kombucha? and Secret Squirrel Coffee? according to the release.

Kenya's tea exports slump in January

NAIROBI, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's tea exports slumped in January even as the east African nation shipped the produce to more countries across the globe, according to a report released by the Tea Directorate on Tuesday.

新華社內(nèi)羅畢3月17日電，根據(jù)肯尼亞茶葉局于周二（3月16日）發(fā)布的一份報(bào)告顯示，盡管肯尼亞的茶葉產(chǎn)品已經(jīng)出口到世界各國，但在2021年1月，肯尼亞的茶葉出口量仍然下降。

The report shows that some 45.1 million kilos of tea were exported during the period, down from 49.2 million in December 2020.

該報(bào)告顯示，1月份肯尼亞出口茶葉約4510萬公斤，低于2020年12月的4920萬公斤。

"During the month, Kenya's tea was shipped to 50 destinations, up from 46 in December," said the directorate.

Pakistan remained the leading export market for Kenyan tea importing 17.4 million kilos of tea, accounting for 39 percent of total export volumes.

Other key destination were Egypt, United Kingdom, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Yemen and Ireland.

其它主要進(jìn)口國是埃及，英國，俄羅斯，阿拉伯聯(lián)合酋長國，蘇丹，也門和愛爾蘭。

Tea production during the month slumped to 49 million kilos, down from 54 million kilos due to dry weather experienced in growing areas, said the agency.

肯尼亞茶葉局表示，由于這段時(shí)期茶葉生長地區(qū)天氣干燥，該月的茶葉產(chǎn)量從5400萬公斤下降至4900萬公斤。
